WEEP NOT FOR US

Dan, Your Father’s generation and mine,
All of us dying off, one at a time,
Some up front, others still behind at the back of the line
Still traveling through a Universe… not always kind
Hoping at all cost to gaze aloft,
And peer into the eyes of the Divine
And see all the answers… to Life and Time.

Ye still here… weep not for us
We spent our laughter, tears and light years… in the Sun.
Now, we are beckoned… one by one.
Our lives fading from bright to invisible white,
But still treasuring the victories we won
Knowing that the bell, once rung cannot be undone
Til it is us who sets into the setting Sun.

God bless you dear friend, David Holm
This time it was you… for whom the bells tolled.
While our diminishing numbers are left behind to behold
Waiting in line… staring down time and our own mortality
We salute you dear friend for your love and cordiality
A voyageur amongst… us Fellow Travelers who
Once upon a time, stood in the long Blue Line… of
youthful vitality.

Weep not for us… you who will walk the same path.
For we have lived and loved and reached high,
And bathed in the success of life’s joyous aftermath.
With the game of life always nigh,
We fought the fight… won, lost and sometimes tied
All of us lending a hand, as we walked side by side
A band of Brothers who lived life to its fullest…
and then we died.
